Diagnosis: Breast cancer, stage III
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Advanced Inflammatory breast cancer which is a very aggressive form of the disease. After working with cancer patients for many years, and then being told myself that I would immediately be starting very strong chemotherapy, I knew that I was going to have to deal with the possibility of losing my hair.
Fortunately, my oncologist asked me if I would like to participate in the new DigniCap Scalp Cooling System therapy program to help me save my hair. I said yes right away because I saw the physical and emotional toll it took on those–especially women–who lost their hair because of their chemotherapy regimen.
For me, keeping my hair wasn’t an ego thing–I just wanted my friends and family to treat me “normally” while I was going through devastating cancer treatment. When I went out, no one knew what I was going through. This helped me keep a positive attitude and the strength to continue my treatments. I forged ahead with the rest of my chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation with such a positive attitude, which I honestly believe helped me recover much more quickly.
I am so truly grateful for using DigniCap and for keeping my hair!
